The Naterra chair will evolve with your style as you grow by decorating it with your favourite textile. We change as they get older and what was exciting one moment may look outdated and old the next. The inetnt was to make a durable minimalistic chair taht can be styled with a warm textile that can be switched and swapped without the need to buy a completely new chair.
Inspired by Scandinavian design and culture.

Once the concept was defined the design was further refined with Hannah to address ergonomics, durability and construction.

The whole design process was completed. It began with research and concept development sketches. It then evolved to scaled models to understand material choice, manufacturing and proportion. Hannah and I formed a group to finish the design and build the chair. When finalizing the design the AR software, Shapr3D was used to understand scale and proportions before advancing to building the model. A final cardboard model was made to evaluate proportions. Laser cut furniture templates were used for efficiency of cutting and router repetitive parts during the chair fabrication.

Naterra is joined using mortise and tenon as well as glue to make a strong and resilient frame to ensure it has a long lifespan.
All measurements are based on human proportions to fit an average range of people. It has lumbar support and a wide seat for extra comfort.
Birch plywood is cut and fitted. Equipment used was a band saw, router, and hammer. All materials are non-toxic and environmentally conscience.
